Where To Eat in New Hope and Lambertville

Best Places to Eat in Lambertville and New Hope

Disclaimer: I am NOT what you’d call a foodie.  You can scour my 3000+ social media posts and there are probably less than ten that feature food – one or two of which may be photos of chicken nuggets that I thought looked like celebrities.  I still, on occasion, eat cheap ramen noodles and, on really special occasions, devour a box of Kraft mac and cheese. That being said, I do live in an area with MANY amazing places to eat and the following is a list of where I go and why. Also, you can do your own Google searches and find out that I am supported in my claims and this post isn’t solely dictated by someone with the palate of a college frat boy.

Under the Moon, Lambertville, NJ –   There aren’t enough good things I could possibly say about this place.  To begin with, the tapas menu is best with a group of people.  Between the patatas bravas, albondigas, skirt steak, and many other options, you will want to get as many as possible to share.  The entree menu is filled with choices that range from a tuna poke bowl, to meatloaf, to a variety of salads and other picks! But, not to be missed, is the empanadas served with a side of chimichurri. These are easily the best empanadas I have ever tasted in my life.  I’m pretty sure some sort of black magic or sorcery goes into making these because the taste is life changing.

Aside from the food, the environment and staff are also part of the incredible dining experience.  I’ve had the amazing fortune to get to know the owners Eric and Santi as well as a number of the wait staff and they are all awesome people.  Whether you are dining in the cozy interior, hanging at the BRAND new remodeled bar, or relaxing in the back garden area, you will not regret your time here.

Side note: my husband had my surprise 40th here and I’ve attended a number of other events and every time was outstanding.

The Lambertville House, Lambertville, NJ – There is no better place to people watch than on the front porch at The Lambertville House. The experience is made even better when paired with one of their unique cocktails. If it’s a bit chilly, the inside bar area is home to a number of cozy seating options, including well-worn leather chairs and couches that are nearly impossible to get up from, made only even more inviting by completing your visit with the chicken pot pie.

I’m a bit partial to this establishment as they have allowed me to host my book club here for the past two years.  And there is rarely a time when I walk in and I don’t see a friendly face enjoying their time at the bar.  Even if you’re visiting and don’t know anyone in town, stopping in here will make sure you have a lifelong friend afterwards.

John and Peter’s, New Hope, PA – The epitome of a dive bar. This place is a melting pot of tattooed bikers, rock musicians, drag queens, and everything in between – and I could not love it more. You can either hang at the outside bar and people watch, grab a beer at the inside bar, OR, kick back in the stage area and catch a show. Regardless of where you park yourself, you undoubtedly will strike up a conversation with the person next to you.

J&P’s has a long standing history with this town and has been a pit stop for a number of musicians and still is.  Check their calendar for live performances and make sure to get tater tots.  They have a specialized tater tots menu and I don’t want to oversell it, but these tots will change your life.
